Installing a Hesacore grip
On my new Ruby 14, I decided to set it up with a Hesacore from the start. I guess most would try it out and then upgrade, but I really wanted to play with something special from the get go!
The first step is to remove the original grip.
I'll be honest, it didn't feel good cutting out the plastic wrap for the grip and removing a brand new fresh smelling original grip.
The Six Zero original grip looks like it was held in place by a double sided tape that would be impossible to remove completely. I've kept the original grip, in case I decide on moving on from this paddle, I think I could get it back on for the new user.
The Hesacore I chose was the 5.25" XS size as I wanted something very slightly smaller than the original grip. In the box, you get 4 plastic strips that you place in the 4 sides of the grip.
It's best to wet the handle with a bit of water to help slide the Hesacore in. Also keep in mind you may have some sticky double sided tape left, so water definitely helps.
Carefully without overstretching the Hesacore, try moving it up the handle, equally on all sides as to not tear the Hesacore. Yes they can tear, so be careful.
Once fully applied, adjust it all around to ensure it's evenly placed on all sides. I chose to place it about 1mm above the absolute bottom lip of the cap. This was so I could get my overgrip just below the Hesacore when I wrapped it up.
I used a pink UDRIPPIN comfort grip to wrap it. I may have preferred a Tour Pro UDRIPPIN, but wanted a matching colour so I chose the pink instead.
Super happy with the final result. There's definitely a better feel of the ball with the Hesacore. I absolutely love mine.
