How They Work • Photochromic lenses contain special photochromic molecules (often silver halide or organic compounds) embedded in or on the lens. • When UV rays hit the lens, these molecules undergo a chemical reaction that changes their structure, causing the lens to absorb more light and become darker. • When UV exposure stops (e.g., indoors or at night), the molecules revert to their original form, and the lens becomes clear again.
